On Saturday, 5th July 2025, AWA Housing Cooperative Society proudly participated in the International Day of Cooperatives (Ushirika Day) celebrations held in Mombasa. This year’s event brought together cooperatives from across the region under the theme “Cooperatives: Building a Better Future for All”, highlighting the vital role cooperatives play in promoting sustainable development and empowering communities.
The colorful event was graced by dignitaries from the county and national governments, leaders of cooperative movements, and hundreds of members representing various cooperative societies. The celebrations kicked off with a vibrant procession through the streets of Mombasa, showcasing the unity, strength, and diversity of the cooperative sector.
AWA Housing Cooperative Society was well represented by a lively team of staff and members who proudly marched alongside other cooperatives, donning the Society’s colors and banners. Our participation underscored our ongoing commitment to providing affordable and quality housing solutions to our members, while also contributing to the broader cooperative movement in Kenya
